They can be electric, or part of an efficient heat pump home heating system. And they can even take advantage of solar heat. We can help you find the right water heater for your needs.

If you're eligible for time-of-day (TOD) rates, you can save up to 44% on water heating costs. With TOD rates, you can program your water heater to heat during off-peak hours.
Low Maintenance
Unlike a fossil fuel system, there is very little maintenance required for an electric water heater. Simple routine checks of your water heater will ensure that there are no leaks around fittings or bottom of tank.
Types of Water Heaters
When trying to decide what type of electric water heater is right for you, you'll need to think about the water needs of your home. Typically, for a household with one to four people, a 40 gallon tank works great. Smaller tanks are available, but they often cost the same or more and they may not be insulated as well. For four or more people (or if you're using your water heater with time-of-day rates) you'll probably want a larger 60 gallon tank.

Heat pump water heaters absorb heat from the air and transfer it into your water storage tank. They typically have higher initial costs than conventional storage water heaters, however they have lower operating costs which can offset their higher purchase and installation prices. Heat pump water heaters can provide the same amount of hot water as a standard electric heater while consuming 50%-70% less energy. These are great for homes that are looking to improve their efficiency.
Tankless water heaters are also called "instantaneous" water heaters because they heat water only when it's needed. As soon as the hot water tap is turned on, the tankless heater engages and immediately heats the water being pumped through it. Since there's no storage tank involved, the tankless heater will provide water for as long as the hot water tap (or washing machine, or dishwasher) is turned on.

Get Estimates: You'll need to get a quote from our list of preferred contractors. We recommend getting at least three different quotes to compare options and pricing.

Credit Application: Once you've chosen a contractor, they'll help you complete a credit application form which will then be shared with our team to process.
3.
Approval: Once you're approved, we'll get in touch with your contractor, and they will arrange the installation.
- Customers must have an existing Nova Scotia Power account in good standing and own the residence where the product will be installed. Renters are not eligible for financing.
- A customer can pay the financing charge in full at any time without penalty.
- A customer can add a lump sum payment to shorten the term, without penalty.
- The total amount financed can include service upgrades, heating solutions bundles, maintenance packages and/or extended warranties.
- 7% interest rate, 3 to 12-year term options.
- For any amount under $2,000 simply call an Energy Advisor at 1-800-428-6774. For any amount over $2,000 please have your contractor submit a credit application.
